About The Furse Family
Benjamin M. Furse and Kelsey A. Mays were married on May 5th, 2012. Our wedding took place at The Mays' Home (Kelsey's parents' house) in Greensboro, NC. It was a perfect ceremony that will always have a special place in our hearts. That entire process of getting married - the wonderful bridal shower here at our home in Fuquay Varina, the awesome day spent with our closest friends before the wedding, and the magical ceremony and reception that night...it could not have gone any better. Thank you dearly to all of you who were a part of it. We could not have done it without you!
We met while we were in college at N.C. State. We were good friends for a while, enjoying school and summers in Raleigh. We took all of the same classes, hung out after school, and did our student teaching to get our licenses during the same semester...our schools were even right next to each other! On December 31st, 2010, Ben officially asked Kelsey to be his girlfriend while on a family trip to Hilton Head. Thankfully, Kelsey said yes! We graduated college with our teaching licenses and moved in together. Now we both have grown-up jobs and we're making it on our own!

Kelsey grew up in Greensboro, NC. Her immediate family includes her dad Bob Mays, her mom Kim Mays, her sister Mariah, and her grandfather PawPaw. She attended Mendenall Middle School and Page High School, where she was a cheerleader. She went to college at N.C. State University to continue her cheerleading career and education.
Now, Kelsey is a middle school teacher at Holly Grove Middle School in Holly Springs, NC. She teaches a pre-engineering curriculum that includes courses like "Invention and Innovation" and "Exploring Technology Systems". She enjoys being able to teach students practical knowledge that will benefit them no matter what they choose to do in the future. |
Mrs. Furse is also the head cheerleading coach at HGMS. She loves this part of her job! She enjoys teaching the young girls about tumbling and cheers. They cheer at all the football and basketball games, and annually compete in local competition. When cheerleading season is over, she continues coaching by leading the girls' track team as well. When Kelsey is not working or coaching, she loves spending time with all of her friends, hanging out at our new house, playing with Bruschi (the cat), and of course...shopping!
Ben grew up in Rutherfordton, NC with his dad Rick, his mom Laurie, and his two brothers Will and Matt. He is the middle of the three boys. He attended RS Middle School and RS High School. He also went to N.C. State University, and ended up majoring in the same field as Kelsey - Technology Education and Graphic Communications.
Now, Ben is a high school teacher at Middle Creek High School in Apex, NC. He teaches a curriculum called "Digital Media", which develops fundamental concepts and skills in areas such as graphic design, animation development, audio and video production, and web design. He also does contract work for N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and third-party curriculum development companies. |
Along with his teaching duties, Mr. Furse is also an advisor of a couple of student organizations at MCHS - called SkillsUSA and The Sports Block. Both of these intend to place students in practical learning environments that aim to mimic a real-world workplace situation. He especially enjoys The Sports Block, a student-run production company that broadcasts all Middle Creek sporting events live over the internet. Click Here for more information about Ben and his teaching career. When Ben is free from work and other duties, he enjoys spending time with Kelsey and his friends. He watches and plays sports as much as possible, his favorites being golf, basketball, and football.
The Furse Family lives in Fuquay Varina, NC (a suburb of Raleigh) in a neighborhood called Avalon Springs. We moved into our new home in March 2012 and have been enjoying it every day since. We looked forward to making the transition from living in dorms and apartments during college to our own home with grown-up jobs, and have been loving our new live together. We feel so fortunate to have good jobs, a loving marriage, and a fantastic home.
Another source of pride and joy is the upcoming arrival of our baby daughter! We have been both super excited and slightly anxious ever since we found out that Kelsey was pregnant. Obviously, having a child is a rather large undertaking, but we know we have the support and love from those around us to be successful and happy.
We have built this family website during the early stages of our lives as a new family in order to allow it to grow as we do. We intend for it to be a convenient way to both document our exciting journey as well as share our experiences with our friends and family. As we gather stories, pictures, and other memorabilia of our lives, we will regularly post them to this website in the Recent Adventures and Photo Gallery pages. Feel free to add comments to our posts, send us quick messages, upload pictures to us, or email us to keep in touch. We would LOVE to hear from each and every one of you, so be sure to use the features that this site has to offer. Thanks for visiting our family website! We hope to see you all soon. We love you!
